Handbuilding with clay allows you to create ceramic forms without using a throwing wheel.

This class teaches handbuilding techniques including pinch, coil, and slab construction.   We discover different surface decorations in combination with the best glaze for your piece. You also will learn which firing temperatures to use for what glaze.

We don't have a set program of work students have to do.   Look around everywhere and make photos or copy out of books, search the internet and show us what you like to do. Our teachers will discuss with you how it needs to be done with what techniques, and guide you to create your own style.

Our teachers provide individual guidance for all levels of experience, with special attention to newcomers. Experienced potters can work on their own projects.

Have you got an idea about a ceramic you want to build?

This Handbuilding pottery class is ideal for Beginners, but also those that have some ceramic experience but would like to learn to develop their own ideas.

We will discuss your planned project with you and work out a plan to achieve the best outcome.  All handbuilding techniques from our Beginners classes are known to the students, and they know how to do them.

This class focuses on more advanced handbuilding techniques and special surface decorations. Students learn to ensure their work is fired in the right temperature, and learn how to load kilns to ensure the best firing result for their work.

We do not have fixed projects our students have to do.   You can bring your own ideas in the form of sketches, photos or  similar objects and your teacher will discuss with you how to plan, build and create your work.
